The Hibiscus Coast is located a comfortable 30 minute drive north of Auckland, and comprises two main towns. Orewa is a beachside location popular with retirees, and is a “playground” for beachgoers who come to enjoy fabulous Orewa beach during the summer months. The other main town is Whangaparaoa, located on a long narrow peninsula, surrounded by the waters of the Hauraki Gulf, and home to the second largest marina (1053 berths) in the southern hemisphere at Gulf Harbour.
The Hibiscus Coast is a sought after urban area within easy commuting distance of major workplaces in the greater Auckland area, and enjoys the benefits of three golf courses, fourteen fabulous beaches, a world class marina, two main shopping precincts, several boat ramps, very good schools, and low crime rates. The population is just under 30,000. We are surrounded by one of the world’s real gems, the Hauraki Gulf, proving ground for many of New Zealand’s great sailors, and a sensational area for recreational boating and fishing.
